Happy Birthday Gabby!

Gabby celebrated her 5th birthday on April 20. We had a party for her this weekend at the bowling alley/Kids play place. It was very interesting to have 16 kids from ages 2-9 bowl! They had a blast though and Gabby had quite the day as we left our party and went straight to another party for a classmate! What a day!

I find it quite sweet that since turning 5, Gabby has declared herself a "big girl" and is determined to do EVERYTHING on her own to show us how big she is. It's no good telling her that sometimes Mama needs to help...she is not having any of it!

So Proud!

Gabby's dance school has invited Gabby to become part of the school's dance company!!!! That means more dance time next year and possibly some competitions in the near future! Gabby's teacher said that she sees a huge potential in Gabby as a dancer. Way to go Gabby! We are so proud of you!!!!

Lots of Dancing

So Gabby is becoming quite the dancing queen. She got to go to a dance at Daddy's school with him last week and was not shy on the dance floor. She even had a break dancing "dance off" with one of the kids from John's class!

Last night was family night at Gabby's school for preschool. Gabby had lots of fun there but the best part was the 100 days of school dance in her gym. Gabby had so much fun dancing with her friends and she even danced with older kids from grade 4 and 5!! Wow! Gabby is apparently quite popular!

Today was the Valentine's party and she said it was a great time.....boy I am getting tired just thinking about all the activity!

Peter Pan

Gosh, Gabby makes us laugh and smile soooo much! We took her to see Peter Pan at the Esplanade on Saturday (front row fairy dust seats). She was just captivated with all the singing and dancing. She was on the edge of her seat the whole evening and even managed to stay awake even though the show went on until 10 pm! She exclaimed on the car ride home that she now wants to be an actress! As John said, we will now have to withdraw her application to Jedi School.....

The Year in Review

So.....2009 was a year of transition for the Grimes Family. We moved here in July of 2008. Needless to say the remainder of 2008 was a blur - Adjusting to new jobs, new daycares, new home, new everything. 2009 was rather busy as well with John moving to a new school, the house renovations and Gabby starting school. I am happy to say however, that we are finally starting to slow down and breathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Gabby is loving it here in The Hat. We get to go to lots of movies and she has seen lots of wonderful kids shows at the theatre here. So far she has seen The Doodlebops, The Backyardigans, Little Bear, The Nutcracker, and lots more...

Gabby LOVES her dance class. She is taking Hip Hop, Tap and Ballet. Her second recital is coming up in June - Can't wait!

I will post some pics that I have on this computer and I promise there will be more to come...

I'm Back!

So it's been a year since I updated this blog...mostly due to Facebook and the ease with just posting pics there. I have deleted my Facebook account for now in favor of focusing on this blog - hope to see some visitors here. :)

I will upload some pics from the last year soon - but i'll leave you with a favorite taken last month...

Gabby and Abba

So we are all settled into our new house in Medicine Hat. We all love it here and Gabby is getting along great at her new dayhome. She is making new friends (mostly boys) in true Gabby fashion.

Gabby's latest obsession (although coming in second to Hannah Montana) is ABBA. She can't get enough! When we go out shopping and such, Gabby carries Dad's IPhone with Abba tunes blaring - her own little mini concerts. It attracts quite a lot of attention.

Right at this moment, I am watching her with the Rockband microphone dancing and singing along to ABBA #1 Hits...what a sight!

I know it's been a while since I updated the blog - it was just getting too hard to upload pics but looks like they fixed that.....I shall start again...

So what's new with Gabby? Well, she has started testing us BIG time! She questions everything and it is difficult to keep a straight face when she is telling me "Mama, if you are rude you will have to get a time out.." all the time pointing her crooked little finger at me. LOL - I guess imitation is the best form of flattery right? :)

Skating - Kinda

Gabby had her first skating trip a while back. She was very excited to go but she lost her nerve just before getting on the ice. We "tricked" her into doing a full lap around but when given the option, she quickly decided to go home. Maybe next time huh?

Grrrr....

Hello everyone! Gabby is doing quite well. She enjoyed trick or treating Wednesday night and she had lots of fun being a "bad tiger". She even did her growl for everyone. It was really cute.

Gabby is really growing up fast nad it is difficult at times to keep up with her! She is becoming quite the little lady....
